After 3 kilometers (2 miles) take the exit for Cortona and follow this road until you reach the village of Camucia at the foot of the Cortona hillside. Follow the signs that lead you up the hill to Cortona.
Cortona by Train
One way to get from Florence or Rome to Cortona is to take the Direettrain (direct mainline train) for Firenze-Roma and get of at Terontola-Cortona station or the Camucia-Cortona station.
The Terontola and Camucia stations are very close to each other. The Terontola station is 1 1 km. south of Cortona and the Camucia station is 5 km. south west of Cortona. There is bus service to Cortona from the stations and taxi service is usually available.
The Terontola station is the larger of the two with
a coffee/snack bar and has more scheduled arrivals
and departures. It is 194 km. from Rome (about 2 hours,
10 minutes) and 122 km. from Fiorenee (about 1 hour,
20 minutes).
You can view the official timetable and purchase
your train tickets with a credit card by visiting
the Trenitalia web site.
While in Cortona you can go to the tourist

and purchase tickets.
Cortona has regular trains that take you directly
to Arezzo, Florence,
Bologna and Milan in one direction, or Orvieto,
Rome, Naples and Amalfi in the other. National
express trains stop frequently at the railway station
in Camucia at
the bottom of the Cortonese hill, or even more frequently
from Terontola station (further south). Perugia can be reached by train from Terontola
station quite quickly, via a branch line, and Siena via another
branch line from the Arezzo
station, about 20 minutes north of Cortona.
CAMUCIA AND TERONTOLA railways station are connected by hourly buses to
the center of Cortona (the bus terminal is in Piazza
Garibaldi). Bus tickets can be bought at all
tobacco shops, newspaper stands, but not on the buses themselves. So remember to
buy your tickets in advance and always punch the ticket
after getting onto the bus (there's an automatic time
puncher on every bus). Taxis can be hired from the Terontola and Camucia
railway stations, or in the center of Cortona
in Piazza della Repubblica or Piazza Signorelli.
